COVID-19 Update: The Union Health Ministry of India reported 11,109 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, which is the highest single-day spike in over seven months. As of now, the total number of active cases in the country is 49,622.
The previous day, the country reported 10,158 cases, and the tally for Wednesday stood at 7,830 cases.
As per the Union Health Ministry's latest update, the daily positivity rate for COVID-19 was 5.01%, whereas the weekly positivity rate stood at 4.29%.
The number of individuals who have recovered from the virus has reached 4,42,16,583. Additionally, 29 new fatalities were reported, taking the total death toll to 5,31,064.
The latest data updated at 8 am revealed that three fatalities each were reported from Delhi and Rajasthan, while two deaths each were registered in Chhattisgarh and Punjab.
Additionally, one death each was recorded in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
Furthermore, nine previously reported deaths were reconciled by Kerala.
A total of 476 vaccine doses were administered in the past 24 hours, while the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has surpassed 220.66 crore.
