Imran Khan again Praises India, says - Despite Pressure from the US, India Bought Oil from Russia

Imran Khan Praises India: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again praised India. Imran Khan has reacted on Twitter to the Modi government's decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel.

He said that despite pressure from the US, India had bought oil from Russia at a discounted rate to provide relief to its people.

Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan tweeted, "Despite being part of the quad, India bypassed US pressure and bought discounted oil from Russia to provide relief to the masses." He also praised Indian foreign policy.

In another tweet, he quoted the current government led by Pakistan Muslim League (N) and wrote “For our government, Pakistan's interest was paramount but unfortunately the local Mir Jafars & Mir Sadiqs bowed to external pressure forcing a regime change, and are now running around like a headless chicken with the economy in a tailspin.”

It may be mentioned here that the central government has reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel to provide relief to the people. With this, petrol has become cheaper by Rs 9.5/litre and diesel by Rs 7/litre.

Central excise duty on petrol was being reduced by Rs 8/litre

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted that the central excise duty on petrol was being reduced by Rs 8/litre and on diesel by Rs 6/litre. Sitharaman said that with this, the government would incur a fiscal deficit of around Rs one lakh crore per annum.

The Union Minister appealed to the states to give similar concessions to the people, especially those who did not make such deductions in the previous round (November 2021).
