Five Killed in a Small Plane Crash in Georgia, USA

On Friday, a small plane crashed in a wooded area near Lake Oconee in Georgia, USA. In this, five people including four members of the same family have died. They were all going to attend a funeral. Sheriff Howard Sills of Putnam County said the plane crashed at 3.15 pm (US time). The emergency team rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire but found no one alive there.

Officials say the family consisted of two young children, aged between four and six. The pilot and aircraft owner have been identified as 67-year-old Larry Ray Pruitt, who lives in Florida. Also among those who lost their lives are 41-year-old Shawn Charles Lamont and his 43-year-old wife, Jody Ray Lamont. The couple has a six-year-old son named Jayce and a four-year-old daughter named Alice.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the twin-engine Piper PA-31T flew from Williston, Florida and the aircraft was heading to Indiana. Sills said the family was to attend a funeral in Newcastle. The FAA is investigating the plane crash and has also been informed to the National Transportation Safety Board.
