Assistant Sub Inspector of Border Security Force (BSF) has been arrested from Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday. He is accused of stealing gold and diamond jewelry worth Rs 15 lakh. The accused was identified on the basis of CCTV footage.

Assistant Sub Inspector of Border Security Force (BSF) has been arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stealing gold and diamond jewelry worth Rs 15 lakh at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to media reports, the BSF jawan has been identified as Naresh Kumar. It is being told that a woman passenger was waiting for her flight to Srinagar with her husband at Indira Gandhi International Airport. While the accused ASI was waiting for Bagdogra flight at Igi Airport.

The lady told the police that after completing the boarding process and security check she sat at a seat. She also had his handbag, which contained 15 lakh jewelry. The woman placed the bag under the seat. Five minutes later the woman saw that her bag was missing from under her seat. When the lady failed to find the bag, she made noises. Then the police reached the spot.

The CISF and the Delhi Police, who were present at the airport, have investigated the CCTV footage. Police saw ASI Naresh Kumar in CCTV to lifting bags from under women's seat. After the identification of the accused, a search operation was conducted. Naresh Kumar was going to board a flight of Bagdogra when the police arrested him. In the beginning, he refused to steal handbags. But during the search, the police got gold and diamond jewelry worth 15 lakh rupees from his possession. The accused then confessed his crime.

Police said that in the preliminary investigation, it was found that the accused wanted to make money easily. Naresh Kumar's medical report confirmed that he had drunk alcohol.
