Shiv Sena and BJP workers clashed on the streets in Mumbai on Tuesday after Union Minister Narayan Rane's remarks on slapping Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for his "ignorance of the year of India's Independence". Narayan Rane faces an arrest warrant after a case filed by Shiv Sena workers. Meanwhile, the party workers demonstrated against him in 17 cities of Maharashtra on Tuesday. The stones were pelted at the BJP office in Nashik, the police lathi-charged the Shiv Sainiks protesting outside Rane's house in Mumbai.
An FIR has been registered against the Minister in Pune, Raigad and Nashik. Along with this, a demand has been made to register an FIR in Aurangabad and Kherwadi. Pune and Nashik police have also issued warrants for Rane's arrest. A team from Chatushrugi police station in Pune has left for Chiplun in Raigad. Rane, involved in BJP's Jan Aashirwad Yatra, has been here since Monday. Let us tell you that Rane is a Rajya Sabha MP, so the police will have to follow the protocol. After the arrest, the police will give information to the Rajya Sabha Speaker and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. The police will give this information to them in Hindi or in English.
Union minister Narayan Rane during interaction with media, claimed Mr Thackeray forgot the year of independence during his August 15 address, saying "It is shameful that the Chief Minister does not know the year of independence. He leaned back to ask about the count of years of independence during his speech. Had I been there, I would have given him a tight slap."
