UNESCO Chief Visited India Today to Give Heritage City Certificate to ‘Pink City’

On Wednesday, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay will provide a certificate to Pink City Jaipur to be a heritage city. She is here on a three-day tour. She will be scheduling to meet PM Modi and other ministers.

Jaipur was declared the 38th World Heritage Area in June last year. There, in the historic Albert Hall, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will participate in a special function. This is her first visit to India after becoming Director General.

Earlier, Audrey Azoulay spoke about strategic partnership with India in the field of heritage and education. Officials said that after arriving at Delhi on her first visit after becoming Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay went to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

Audrey Azoulay also met Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Union Culture Minister Prahlad Patel. During the meeting with Nishank, the two sides signed an agreement in the field of education.

The Delhi-based UNESCO offical tweeted pictures of the Director General's activities and wrote, "Audrey Azoulay started her India visit to Rajghat with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The purpose of her visit is to strengthen UNESCO's relationship with India and explore new heritage in the country.
