Indian Athlete Shivpal Singh Qualifies for Tokyo Olympics in Javelin Throw

Indian athlete Shivpal Singh has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in Javelin Throw. He achieved a distance of 85.47 meters from his throw during the athletics tournament played in South Africa on Tuesday. Because of this, he achieved the criteria of 85 meters to make it to the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiran Rijiju also wrote on Twitter congratulating Shivpal Singh, 'Good news from track and field as #ShivpalSingh qualifies for #Tokyo2020 in men's javelin throw after an effort of 85.47m at the ACNW League Meeting in South Africa. Qualification mark was 85m. Congratulations Shival!'

Shivpal will now represent India in this event along with Neeraj Chopra in this year's Olympics. Earlier this year, after returning from injury, India's star player Neeraj Chopra achieved the quota for the Tokyo Olympics with a distance of 87.86 meters.
