Manpreet Singh, Rani Rampal Awarded as Hockey India’s ‘Best Players of the Year’

Apart from the trophy, Manpreet and Rani received prize money of Rs 25 lakh each. Manpreet defeated Harmanpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Surendra Kumar in the race for these awards, while Rani defeated Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjeet Kaur and Savita.
Manpreet Singh, Rani Rampal Awarded as Hockey India’s ‘Best Players of the Year’

Indian Hockey team captain Manpreet Singh was awarded the 'Dhruv Batra Best Indian Male Player of the Year' at the 3rd Hockey India Annual Awards 2019, while the women's team captain Rani was adjudged as 'Best Female Player of the Year.' Apart from the trophy, Manpreet and Rani received prize money of Rs 25 lakh each. Manpreet defeated Harmanpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Surendra Kumar in the race for these awards, while Rani defeated Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjeet Kaur, and Savita.

Harbinder Singh, member of the Tokyo Olympics 1964 gold medal-winning team was given 'Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award'. He was also a member of the Indian hockey team that won bronze medals at the 1968 Mexico and 1972 Munich Olympics. He was awarded prize money of Rs 30 lakh and a trophy. During the Hockey India Annual Awards, the players were awarded prize money of one crore 64 lakh 50 thousand.

India's men's and women's hockey teams qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 led by Manpreet and Rani respectively last year. Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju was present as the chief guest on this occasion. Apart from this, Deep Grace Ekka, Kothajit Singh Khadangbaum and Savita for playing 200 international matches, while Harmanpreet Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay and Nikki Pradhan were given 'Milestone Award' for playing 100 international matches. Ekka, Kothajeet, and Savita were given one lakh rupees, while Harmanpreet, Lalit and Nikki were given prize money of Rs 50,000 each.

Manpreet was awarded the FIH's best player of the year 2019, Lalremsiyami was awarded the FIH's emerging female player of the year 2019 and Vivek Sagar Prasad for becoming the FIH's emerging male player of the year 2019. Manpreet was given Rs 10 lakh, while Lalremsiyami and Vivek were given prize money of Rs five lakh each. Rani was also awarded prize money of Rs 10 lakh for the 'World Games Athlete of the Year 2019' award.
