The US has requested India to protect the rights of religious minorities while upholding their constitutional and democratic values. The United States is monitoring developments in various states of India regarding the disputed Citizenship Amendment Bill.

A US State Department spokesman said on Thursday, "We are closely monitoring the developments regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill." Equal treatment under the law and respect for religious freedom are fundamental principles of two democratic countries.

The spokesperson said, "America requests India to protect the rights of religious minorities by upholding their constitutional and democratic values."
