Amit Shah Arrives in Meghalaya on 2-Day Visit to Northeast India

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Meghalaya's capital Shillong on Saturday on his two-day visit to the Northeast region. He was warmly welcomed by the Chief Minister of the state, Conrad Sangma and other senior ministers. Meanwhile, Amit Shah inaugurated the Inter-State Bus Terminal at Mawiong in East Khasi Hills. He said, "It will improve road connectivity to the Northeast and make the region an economic hub."

Meanwhile, the development comes at a time when India will celebrate its 75th year of independence and Meghalaya will celebrate its 50th year of establishment. Shah was accompanied by Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and G Kishan Reddy, Minister of Culture and Development of North Eastern Region of India.

Shah to hold meeting with chief ministers of all north-east regions:

Let us inform that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had held a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with the parties of the Northeast region last week. During his two-day visit, Shah will hold meetings with all chief ministers, chief secretaries and police chiefs of the northeastern states on Saturday, in which inter-state border issues in the region.

Meanwhile, the northeastern states include Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Assam has border disputes with Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram. Police and paramilitary forces directed to keep a strict vigil and intensify patrolling in Shillong. All markets and business establishments ordered to shut today and tomorrow.
