In a significant move ahead of the assembly elections in Rajasthan, the Congress government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has made a remarkable decision to provide substantial relief in electricity bills for all consumers in the state.

Chief Minister Gehlot took to Twitter today to make the announcement, stating that consumers using up to 100 units of electricity will receive a zero bill.

Additionally, those using up to 200 units of electricity will have their surcharges waived, and their first 100 units of electricity will also be free of cost.

Taking into account the observations made during inflation relief camps and interactions with the public, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot acknowledged the need for a revision in slab-wise exemptions for electricity bills.

Additionally, feedback received from the public regarding the fuel surcharge in May's electricity bills has led to a significant decision being made.

Significant initiative of Rajasthan CM

With a special focus on the middle-class population, Chief Minister Gehlot unveiled a significant initiative. Consumers who utilize electricity up to 200 units per month will enjoy the first 100 units completely free.

Moreover, not only will fixed charges be waived for up to 200 units, but the government will also cover the costs of fuel surcharge and other applicable charges. This proactive step by the state government aims to alleviate financial burdens on middle-class households.

Ahead of the upcoming state assembly election later this year, the ruling government has made this significant announcement.

Trying to settle political equation

Following the conclusion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Ajmer and the ultimatum presented by Sachin Pilot regarding three demands, Chief Minister Gehlot has strategically shifted focus by making a significant announcement.
