The Punjab government has extended the holidays of all government, private and aided schools in the state due to dense fog and bitter cold.

According to the new orders, now schools in Punjab will remain closed from January 2, 2023, to January 8. Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains tweeted this information.

All schools will open on January 9

School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that all schools in the state will open on January 9, 2023. It may be noted that the education department had earlier announced winter vacation in all the schools of the state from December 25 to January 1.

However, if the havoc of the cold gets worse, then the government can take a decision to extend the winter vacation further.

The way the weather is at present, if the same weather continues, then it is difficult to open schools even on January 9.

According to the Meteorological Department, a warning of severe cold and fog has been issued in the state for the next few days.

Along with this, the department has said that there will be an outbreak of cold waves in the state for the next few days.

A drop in temperature is also expected in many states of the country. According to weather experts, the north-westerly winds coming from the Himalayan region can have a significant impact on the plains.

Due to this, a drop of 2 to 4 degree Celsius is expected in the minimum temperature in North-West India.
