Wankhede Stadium to Host Opening Match of IPL 2020

The date for the next year's season of the Indian Premier League, the world's most popular T20 league, has come out. The tournament will begin on March 29 next year at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The First match will be played by defending IPL champions Mumbai Indians at their home. Mumbai and Delhi will compete in the first match.

A Delhi Capitals official told that his team is ready to play its first match against Mumbai Indians on March 29. The start of the IPL in March means that players from Australia, England and New Zealand will not be able to participate in the opening matches.

The last match of the T20 series between Australia and New Zealand is to be played on 29 March. The Test series between England and Sri Lanka will end on 31 March. This means that players of these four teams will not be able to be part of the opening matches of the IPL. A few days ago an official of an IPL franchise team said that they are expecting that the Governing Council will conduct the tournament in the old format. Two matches should be played every day and it should start by 1 April.
