Pakistan is a ‘Brazil of Cricket’ Because of Raw Talent: Wasim Akram

Akash Singh

Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram described Pakistan as Brazil of cricket. His reasoning for doing this was that just like there are more talented players in Brazil, there have been such talented players in Pakistan too. Former Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram was talking to former Australian cricketer Dean Jones in a TV program. When Jones asked Akram what was the reason behind the talent factory in Pakistan. Wasim Akram gave this answer.

Jones asked, "Pakistan is a talent factory. We often say in Australia that there is a lot of talent in Pakistan, that's all you need to do." To this, the former Pakistani captain replied and said, "Raw talent, It's like the Brazil of cricket." Pakistanis bring different techniques to international cricket, different attitude of fast bowlers like yourself (Wasim) and Waqar (Younis), Shoaib (Akhtar), and of course Abdul (Qadir) and Mushi (Mushtaq Ahmed)."

South African countries have given the best legacy in football not only because they have won the FIFA World Cup the most times but also the most professional footballers and coaches have come out from here.
