Indonesia Masters Super-500: PV Sindhu Knocked Out in the Pre-Quarterfinals

On Thursday, World champion PV Sindhu knocked out of the Indonesia Masters Super-500 Badminton Tournament after defeat in the pre-quarterfinals by Sayaka Takahashi of Japan 21-16 16-21 19-21. The match lasted one hour and 6 minutes. Now, Takahashi will face Wang Zhi Yi in the quarter-finals.

Sindhu started well in the match. She won the first game 21-16, but in the next two games, the Japanese players dominated the Indian shuttler and won the match. Earlier, Takahashi defeated Saina Nehwal. Sindhu and Sayaka Takahashi have come face to face 6 times before this match. The Indian shuttler won 4 times, while Japanese players prevailed over her twice. Indian's hopes in this tournament have ended after her defeat.

Earlier, Sindhu was eliminated in the quarter-finals from Malaysia Masters, the first tournament of the year. At the same time, Sai Praneeth, K Srikkanth and Saurabh Verma, who won the Bronze World Championship on Wednesday, were also eliminated in the second round.
