India will start their mission Melbourne 2022 from Mohali as they will lock horns against the world champions of T20 World Cup 2021, Australia, in a three-match T20 International series starting from next Tuesday, 20th September 2022, in Mohali's Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

The other two matches of this shortest format series will be played in Nagpur on Friday, 23rd September and Sunday, 25th September in Hyderabad.

The series against the current T20 World Cup champions will be played as a dress rehearsal before the World T20 2022 in Australia starting in October.

India will be looking to correct their mistake, which they did in the Asia Cup 2022 edition. Despite starting the tournament on a winning note, India did not qualify for the finals in this edition.

India's two spearhead bowlers are back for this series against Aussies –

One of the reasons why India lost the two back-to-back matches in the super 4 round is because of the absence of their death over specialists, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel.

Both of these spearhead bowlers were out of the Asia Cup 2022 edition due to their injuries. Now Boom Boom Bumrah is back alongside Harshal Patel.

These two bowlers will walk into any T20 International team without any doubts. Deepak Chahar has also been included in this three-match series against Australia, while Arshdeep Singh hasn’t been included despite having a decent run in the Asia Cup 2022 edition.

Axar Patel will be the lone spin-bowling all-rounder in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, and Yuzvendra Chahal has cemented his place for this series. At the same time, Kuldeep Yadav has been overlooked yet again.

Mohammed Shami is Back in T20 International setup for India in this series –

The Indian board, BCCI, has named a full-strength squad for this three-match T20 International series against Australia. The selectors have not named Avesh Khan for this home series.

But they have included Indian star pace bowler Mohammed Shami, who will be playing a T20 International match after the last year's T20 World Cup 2021 in the United Arab Emirates. Shami’s last match in the shortest format was against Namibia in Dubai.

According to many experts, Mohammed Shami should have been included in the Asia Cup 2022 squad, especially when Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not there due to their injuries.

India missed the experience and expertise of Shami in that tournament, which is also why the men in blue couldn't win the games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the super 4 rounds.

Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan didn't find a place in this three-match T20 International series squad.

At the same time, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik have been retained for this series. Pant got two opportunities to show his class. But he failed in those two matches, and still, the selectors picked Rishabh for this series.

Alongside Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Ashwin, and Axar Patel will be the all-rounders for this three-match T20I series.
