IND vs AUS 3rd Test: Australia has made a brilliant comeback in the series by winning the third match by 9 wickets of the four-match Test series between India and Australia.

At the same time, the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore has been rated as a poor pitch for the third Test of the World Test Championship series by the ICC.

ICC Match Referee Chris Broad has submitted his report to the ICC expressing the concerns of the match officials and following consultation with the captains of both teams.

After evaluation, the venue is given three demerit points. The match report has been sent to BCCI, they now have 14 days to appeal against the sanction.

Indore pitch receives three demerit points from ICC

The ICC stated that the pitch was very dry and appeared to favour the spinners from the outset. The pitch was also not providing the balance between bat and ball.

The surface of the pitch broke from the 5th ball of the match itself. There was no seam movement and there was excessive and uneven bounce throughout the match.

Due to this, the pitch has been given three demerit points.

ICC's demerit points system

Let us tell you that specifically a demerit point is given to those venues, whose pitches are rated below average by the match referee.

While three and five demerit points are awarded to venues whose pitches are marked as poor and unsuitable, respectively.

Five demerit points result in the venue being suspended from hosting any international cricket for a period of 12 months.

It is to be known that the spinners of both teams got a lot of help from the Indore surface and 14 wickets fell on the very first day.

Of the 31 wickets that fell during the entire match, 26 were taken by the spinners, while only four wickets went to the fast bowlers and one was run out.
