CSK Can Use These as Impact Players for IPL 2023

Deepak Sharma

IPL 2023: The Indian Premiere League has been one of the best franchise league tournaments worldwide. The IPL has been a great opportunity for Indian young and future stars as they get a chance to groom under the legends of the International Cricket arena.

This cash-rich league even has helped the players to make money during the tougher times.

In the last IPL season, ten teams added spice to the event. The mini auctions of this tournament will be held in Kochi on Saturday, 23rd December 2022.

The auctions for IPL 2023 will be shown live on Star Sports India Network and Disney+ Hotstar mobile application. Now this year the BCCI will introduce a new rule for the IPL 2023 season.

What is Impact Player Rule in IPL 2023 season?

The Impact Player Rule is the latest rule created by the BCCI. They had implemented this rule in SMAT (Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy).

This rule will be added so that it could add a new dimension to this cash-rich league event. According to the rule, one substitute player can take more part in an ongoing match of the IPL.

The impact player rule is not compulsory and is upon the teams to use it. This rule can be used before the 14th over of an inning.

But the skippers, head coach and team management should inform the on-field umpires and the fourth umpire before they introduced a player as an impact player.

Hrithik Shokeen was the first impact player in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Tournament. He helped his team, Delhi to win a match by 71 runs.

In the Big Bash League as well this rule is used but by a different name. In the KFC Big Bash League (BBL), the rule is named the X Factor, where a 12th or 13th man player can be included in a match.

Today we shall name three retained players who can be used as the Impact Players from Chennai Super Kings Team. The Yellow Army had a worse season in 2022 and they will look to bounce back in the 2023 season.

IPL 2023

The four-time champion team of MS Dhoni has the best thinkers of the game who can use this new rule to their benefit.

Mitchell Santner

Kiwi all-rounder Mitchell Santner

The Kiwi all-rounder hasn't found a place in the Yellow Army squad consistently because of the two mainstream spin bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali, who have been part of this franchise for a long time.

Now, CSK can include Santner on basis of the Impact Player rule. Santner is a quality spinner and can be used on a turning pitch. He can be brought in to give his batting service during a crucial juncture of an innings.

Shivam Dube

Indian cricketer Shivam Dube

The fast-bowling all-rounder from the CSK team is another player who has been retained for the next season. Dube is a batter who can fit in at any batting position.

He batted well when he was promoted up the order to the number three position in a match against RCB.

So, whenever CSK needs a batting acceleration, they can send Shivam Dube up the order because of the new Impact Player rule.

Ambati Rayudu

India's Ambati Rayudu

The highly experienced player, Ambati Rayudu, is a batter who could either open the innings or smash the ball to all parks in the backend of the T20 innings.

Rayudu has a successful career as the opener for CSK. But due to Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati might not find a place in the team as the opener.

So, the Yellow Army can use his experience as the Impact Player to turn the game. He can bat at lower order the order before the 14th over and change the fortunes for CSK this time.
