Kishori Lal Sharma has been associated with the Congress party for a long time, having worked for the party since the days of Rajiv Gandhi.
As such, he has a strong reach within the region. This is the reason why the Congress party has placed its trust in Kishori Lal Sharma this time.
However, it remains to be seen whether Congress can retain its traditional seat or if it will face defeat again.
On the other hand, discussing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Smriti Irani caused a major upset in the last election, surprising everyone by defeating Rahul Gandhi for the Amethi seat.
Consequently, the BJP has once again nominated Smriti Irani as their candidate from Amethi. Smriti Irani is a prominent leader of the BJP, which is why she secured a victory in the 2019 elections, defeating Rahul Gandhi by a margin of 55,120 votes.
Discussing the caste dynamics in Amethi, the constituency has a significant presence of Dalits (26%), Muslims (20%), and Brahmins (18%).
Based on these caste equations, Congress believes they could have an advantage. However, over the past five years, Smriti Irani has undertaken considerable work in the region and has been successful in gaining the trust of the local people, which is likely to earn her votes.
Smriti Irani has also built a house in Amethi and has been continuously engaging with the people through community interactions.
