It’s junior Thackeray now, Child rights body seeks FIR against Aditya for using minors in protest
Maharashtra is witnessing one and the other political development these days. Days after the dramatic topple of Uddhav’s Shivsena into Shinde’s Sena, now the tensions knocked on the doors of Aditya Thackeray.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a notice to Mumbai Police Commissioner and has directed him to file an FIR against the former environment minister of the state i.e. Aaditya Thackeray. As per the orders, it claims Aditya for using minors in the 'Save Aarey' protests.
The commission has directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to take necessary action against the same within three days and submit a report over the same.
The notice reads as "In view of the above, the National Commission thereby requests you to investigate the matter urgently by lodging an FIR against the accused person (s) at once. The children should be identified and produced before the Child Welfare Committee as per Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 for recording their statements. An action taken report along with a copy of FIR and statement of children may be shared with the Commission within 3 days of receipt of this letter."
What is National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR)?
It is a statutory body constituted under Section 3. The commission looks for the Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act 2005 to protect them in matters violating their rights.
How does the issue came into being?
Last Sunday, children were seen raising their voices in support of the Save Aarey protests addressed by Aaditya Thackeray. Aditya then himself shared the images of the protest on his official Twitter handle in which children could be seen as the protesters holding placards.
In the post he wrote,”Aarey is a unique forest within our city. Uddhav Thackeray ji declared 808 acres of Aarey as Forest and the car shed must move out. Our human greed and lack of compassion cannot be allowed to destroy biodiversity in our city.”
