Jahangirpuri Violence Case: Delhi Police Imposes Strict NSA on 5 Accused
Jahangirpuri Violence Case: Delhi police has imposed a strict National Security Act (NSA) on five accused in Delhi's Jahangirpuri Violence case. Police have arrested Ghulam Rasool alias Gulli, accused of violence. He is accused of supplying arms to Sonu Sheikh.
Sonu Sheikh was also arrested on charges of firing on police personnel. The Delhi Police probe into the Hanuman Jayanti violence in Delhi's Jahangirpuri has uncovered a wealth of information from local inputs and has been linked to video footage.
Jahangirpuri Violence: Police arrested total of 26 people
Taking a stern stance on the violence in Jahangirpuri, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday directed the Delhi Police officials to take strict action against the culprits and set a precedent so that such incidents do not happen again.
The probe was stepped up and police arrested a total of 26 people, including two minors. Police remand of some of the accused has been obtained and they are being questioned. Strict action may be taken against other accused including Sonu Sheikh, Ansar and Aslam.
Investigation has been handed over to the Crime Branch: Delhi Police Commissioner
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had on Monday said that the investigation into the violence has been handed over to the Crime Branch and 14 teams have been formed for the same.
Police say that they are examining more than 200 videos to identify those behind the violence. In view of the situation, more than 500 police personnel and six companies of additional forces are deployed in the area 24 hours a day. A total of 80 tear gas teams and water cannon teams have been deployed, the official said.
Police force has been deployed at various places in Jahangirpuri area
Police said that complete information about the accused is being collected. Old records of some of them have also been found. All the evidence is being gathered and many people have been questioned.
The police have been able to reach the accused through the videos of the violence and now other accused of the incident are being caught and interrogated. In terms of security, police patrols are on in the area and the police force has been deployed at various places.
