Two New Judges in SC: The Central Government has appointed Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Aravind Kumar as new judges of the Supreme Court.

With their appointments, the number of judges in the Supreme Court rose to 34. Justice Rajesh Bindal is the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and Justice Aravind Kumar is the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.

In a tweet on Friday morning, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said, following the provisions of the Constitution of India, the Hon'ble President of India has appointed Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court Rajesh Bindal and Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court Aravind Kumar as Judges of the Supreme Court, My best wishes to them.

The collegium's resolution, published on the apex court's website on January 31, said, "After carefully evaluating the merit, integrity and ability of the eligible Chief Justices and senior Judges of the High Courts and accommodating the plurality of views, in all respects exceeds the following persons to be appointed as Judges of the Supreme Court of India finds fit and proper.

These include Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court and Justice Aravind Kumar, Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court.

Chief Justice is the chairman of the collegium

The Collegium is headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, K.M. Joseph, MR. Shah, Ajay Rastogi, and Sanjiv Khanna.

Five judges took oath on February 5

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud administered the oath of office to five judges - Justice Pankaj Mithal, Justice Sanjay Karol, Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Manoj Mishra - at a swearing-in ceremony held at the Supreme Court premises on Monday, February 5.

Many judges will retire in June

Many judges of the Supreme Court will also retire this year, after which the vacancies of judges in the Supreme Court will reach 5 by the end of June.

The sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court is 34.
