Air India Pilot Suspended for Letting Female Friend into Cockpit, Airline Fined Rs 30 Lakh

On February 27th of this year, an Air India flight pilot allowed a "lady friend" into the cockpit, breaking safety rules.

In response, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken strict action against the airline, imposing a fine of Rs 30 lakh for their failure to promptly and effectively address this safety-sensitive issue.

Also, the license of the pilot in question has been suspended for a period of three months.

Air India Responds to DGCA's Ruling

In response to the fine imposed by the aviation regulator, Air India's spokesperson has stated that they acknowledge and accept the ruling of the DGCA, but they disagree with the assertion that the airline took no action in response to the complaint.

The spokesperson has explained that due process and confidentiality were required to investigate the multiple allegations made and that these investigations commenced promptly after the complaint was lodged.

According to the DGCA, one of the operating crew members of the flight in question had written to Air India's CEO, Campbell Wilson, regarding the incident.

However, despite this safety-sensitive violation, the organization failed to take prompt corrective action, as claimed by the DGCA.
