The International Olympic Committee (IOC) acknowledged that there is no 'ideal' solution for organizing the Tokyo Olympic Games in view of the deadly coronavirus spreading around the world. An IOC spokesperson said, "This is an extraordinary situation that requires extraordinary solutions."

The IOC made the statement after the top players criticized that they would be forced to take a health risk if the Olympic Games will be held between July 24 and August 9, despite the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The spokesman said, "IOC is committed to finding a solution that has the least negative impact on the players, keeping in mind the integrity of the competition and the health of the players. In this situation, no solution will be ideal. That is why we are giving importance to the responsibility and solidarity of the players. "

Earlier Olympic pole vault champion Katerina Stefanidi tweeted, 'Does the IOC want us to practice every day by risking our health, family health and the health of the common people.'
