History of Fernhills Palace of Ooty  

This place was built by Capt. F. Cotton during the British empire in India and was later bought by the Maharaja of Mussoorie.

The place became the summer palace of the Maharaja of Mysore, who used to spend time with his family in this single-storey bungalow during the summer.

The ornamental cast iron of the palace gives it a royal appearance and the nearby lands carve a beautiful scenery for the people.

Fernhills Palace: Relation of Movie 'Raaz' with this

The blockbuster movie- Raaz has been shot in the royal palace of the Mussoorie named Fernhills Palace. It is said that during the production of this movie, Saroj Khan (Choreographer) confronted something unusual while her stay at the palace.

During the night, Saroj Khan heard some noises of moving furniture from the first floor of the palace. When she tried to call reception, the line was dead.

After this, on the next day of her visit to Ooty, she complained about the disturbance on the first floor, and what she heard from the receptionist scared the hell out of a horror movie producer as the receptionist told her that there is no first floor in the palace.

Fernhills Palace shut down in 2018

Due to the regular supernatural activities in the palace, it was shut down for the people in 2018. A lot of people also say that the place is possessed by a man who was killed by the Britishers at that time.

The reason for the shut down was given as the renovation of the palace by its management, but the locals of Ooty say something else relating to ghosts.

Reopened as Welcome Heritage Fernhills Royal Palace

After the shutdown in 2018, the palace reopened for the people and a lot of tourists are visiting the palace. Apart from that, the sequel of Hungama is also shot here.

There is no new supernatural incident has been reported in the palace in the last few years and people are now comfortably visiting the palace to see its beauty.
