A group of assailants damaged around 66 Hindu houses and set 20 houses on fire following incidents of vandalism and violence at temples during Durga Puja last week. According to media reports, about 52 suspects have been arrested for burning the houses of Hindus.

According to the report 29 houses, two kitchens, two barns, and 20 piles of dry grass were set ablaze in the Piroganj Majhipara area. The report said that the cause of the fire has been identified as 'uncontrolled mob'.
