The three-and-a-half-hour-long talks between farmers and police-administrative officials in Haryana's Karnal failed. Negotiations could not reach an agreement. During this two rounds of talks took place. In the first round of talks, the DC-SP led the administrative team and in the second round, the administration under the leadership of the Range Commissioner held talks.

BKU national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait came out of the meeting and said that the administrative team spoke to Chandigarh after every half an hour. Our demand was that IAS Ayush Sinha should be suspended and a case should be registered. The administrative team is not ready to even suspend it even if the case is registered. Also, Tikait said that one of our fronts is on the Delhi border and now the other will continue at Karnal Secretariat.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said that efforts are being made to resolve the issue through talks. However, the agitators are adamant to demand action against the lathi-charged officers. No action will be taken without investigation. The agitators assured in the meeting that they would stage a peaceful dharna. However, their motive is to accept their demand and not to create any nuisance. The administration is also working with patience, restraint, and understanding.

After receiving the invitation from the administration, 11 farmer leaders including Rakesh Tikait, Gurnam Chadhuni, Yogendra Yadav, and Suresh Kauth had reached for talks with the administration. However, farmer leaders interacted with police-administrative officials. At two o'clock in the afternoon, the administration had called the farmers sitting on the dharna for talks. Earlier on Wednesday, the farmers removed the barricades on the way to the secretariat via Nirmal Kutia and Jat Bhawan. Thousands of farmers are sitting on dharna by gheraoing the secretariat in protest against the lathi charge at Bastar toll.
