Challan Amount Supposed to be Reduced in Delhi

Thousands of drivers have been challaned since September 1, after the new Motor Vehicle Act 2019 came into force. Regarding reducing the amount of challan, the Transport Minister of Delhi, Kailash Gehlot has also hinted in this regard. During a press conference on Wednesday, he said on the issue of reducing the challan in Delhi, that some important decisions will be taken after the trends of other states emerge. He said that there are 61 offenses in the Motor Vehicle Act.

In 27 cases, the Delhi government cannot do anything, but in 34 cases the compounding amount can be relieved. There has been a lot of detail discussion on the issue of road safety. At some stage, if you want to reduce it, we will do it. Explain that under Section 200 of the Motor Vehicle Act, the amount of compounding challan can be reduced by the respective state governments.

Assembly elections are to be held in Delhi within six months. In such a situation, the ruling Aam Aadmi party government in Delhi can bet on challaning in view of elections.
