Before some time, Munmun's video went viral and she started being trolled on social media. However, Munmun had apologized to everyone after the video went viral. She wrote on social media, "I am having a lot of controversy over a video in which I used a word which was misinterpreted. It was not asked to hurt anyone's feelings." The counsel appearing for Munmun Dutta told the bench that his client is from West Bengal and the word 'bhangi' she had allegedly used was commonly used in the Bengali language. They were not aware that the word was 'casteist'.

Brief about the Case

The lawyer told the court that Munmun Dutta had unintentionally made this mistake and had withdrawn the post from social media within hours of realizing the mistake. But the Supreme Court said that the word that was used is known to all that it is 'casteist'. However, the Supreme Court has issued a notice on the demand to transfer the separate cases registered at one place. Along with this, the court has stayed the proceedings of the cases registered in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. A case has been registered against Munmun Dutta under the SC-ST Act.
