A new strain of the Delta variant of COVID-19 has been identified in Sweden, with some cases being among fully vaccinated individuals. According to the reports, eight people have been found infected with the new E484Q strain of the delta variant. All these cases reported in Uppsala, about 70 km north of capital Stockholm. Studies indicate that this strain is highly infectious. All new cases found in those traveling from abroad. "We take all variants against which vaccines may not have the same protection seriously," said Matt Martinell, medical manager of the sampling unit of the Uppsala region.

With 530 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,33,049.
The country also witnessed 39,157 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,15,25,080. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.53 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %.
