Coronavirus: Country Cricketers Agree for Maximum Pay Cut

Akash Singh

The Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) on Wednesday announced that county cricketers have agreed to take maximum reduction in their salaries. The salary for the months of April and May will be completely deducted in view of the coronavirus epidemic. With this money domestic cricket will be strengthened, while some amount can also be donated to the COVID 19 fund.

The PCA said in a statement, "The Association of Professional Cricketers is pleased to announce a collective player agreement that all county players agree to a support package to protect home games. PCA, ECB (England Cricket Board) and after discussion between 18 first-class countries, we have come to this conclusion, in which all the parties supported the initial agreement of two months. This will result in a maximum reduction in the player's salary and reduced domestic prize money. "

The PCA further stated that for the year 2020, domestic players have sacrificed £ 1 million of prize money. The Professional Cricketers Association further stated in its statement, "For the initial period of April and May these agreements have been made by the county players. If requested, consistent with the cuts made to other non-sports employees of the county would be agreeing to take a reduction in their remuneration. "
