Twitter has suspended an account of Indian microblogging platform Koo. The Twitter handle @kooeminence, which was set up to field user queries, was suspended on Friday. Earlier, Twitter had suspended accounts of several prominent global journalists including New York Times, CNN and Washington Post.

Koo co-founder and chief executive Aprameya Radhakrishna said, “We don't know why the handle has been suspended. No explanation has been given. He also made a tweet 'A handle of Koo has been banned on Twitter. Why?! Because we compete with Twitter? So? Mastodon was also blocked today. What kind of free speech is this and what world are we living in? What is happening here @elonmusk?

Koo is the second largest microblogging site in the world

Last month, the company's co-founder Mayank Bidwatka told that Koo has now become the second largest micro-blogging platform in the world. The number of its users has crossed 50 million (50 million).

According to the information given on the company's website, apart from India, the Koo app is currently available in more than 200 countries including America, United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, Nigeria, UAE, Algeria, Nepal and Iran. Koo is available in 10 languages.

Koo was launched in March 2020 as a native micro-blogging app. Koo is made by Bombinet Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bangalore. The app has been designed by India's own Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidwatka.

Twitter has 220 million active users in the world. It has 76 million users in America and 23 million users in India. Around 500 million tweets are done every day around the world. Twitter was launched in July 2006. It was founded by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Evan Williams and Biz Stone.
