Rajasthan Government Reduces VAT On Fuel By Rs 2.48, Diesel By Rs 1.16

Fuel Price: Following the cut in excise duty by the Centre, the Rajasthan government slashed VAT on petrol by Rs 2.48 per liter and diesel by Rs 1.16 per liter on Saturday.

Ashok Gehlot, the state chief minister, posted on Twitter, "Because the national government has reduced the rates of fuel and diesel, the state government will decrease VAT by Rs 2.48 per liter on petrol and Rs 1.16 per liter on diesel. Petrol would be pricier by Rs 10.48 and diesel by Rs 7.16 per liter in the state as a result of this."

Meanwhile, the Kerala government announced a tax reduction on fuel and diesel prices of Rs 2.41 and Rs 1.36, respectively.

Earlier on Saturday, the Centre announced a cut in excise tax on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter, aiming at offering comfort to consumers affected by high fuel costs.

Finance Minister Sitharman announced the move in tweets, estimating a revenue impact of roughly Rs 1 lakh crore per year. The minister, who made many other announcements targeted at reducing inflation, stated that cylinders will be subsidized through the Ujjwala system.

She asked states to lower VAT on petroleum items to help the average man. Similarly, on the night of Diwali in November, the government slashed excise tax on gas and diesel. It cut excise tax on fuel by Rs 5 per liter and diesel by Rs 10 per liter.
