Covid-19: Japan Approves US made Corona Vaccine ‘Remdesivir’

Japan has approved Gileid Sciences Company's Remedisvir drug for the treatment of COVID-19. Japan's health ministry gave information about this. It is the country's first officially authorized drug for coronavirus disease by Japan. The US Company applied for fast track approval three days ago, after which Japan made the decision.

Remdesivir will be given to patients with coronavirus symptoms, a Japanese Health Ministry official said. With no other approved treatment for COVID-19, the demand for this drug is increasing worldwide. Permission has been given by the US Food and Drug Administration last week regarding the emergency use of Remdesivir. At present, more than 16 thousand cases have been reported in Japan and more than 800 people have died due to Corona virus.

On Monday, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe extended the emergency imposed in the country till the end of May. Gilead said on Tuesday that it was in talks with several companies, including generic drug makers from India and Pakistan, to produce remdesivir in large quantities.
