A massive fire broke out in the slums of the Gokulpuri area of the national capital late at night, as a result of which 7 people were reportedly burnt to death.

It has been informed by the Delhi Fire Service that seven people died due to fire in the slums in the Gokulpuri area Saturday night. The fire has been brought under control, seven bodies have been recovered by the fire department.

According to the media reports, immediately after the fire, the incident was reported to the fire department. The fire brigade team reached the spot in a hurry and the fire was brought under control after a lot of effort.

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has expressed grief over the accident. He has tweeted that this sad news has been heard in the morning. I will go there and meet the victims.

It was informed by the police that late-night we received information about a fire in the slums in Gokulpuri. We immediately did the work of coordinating with the fire brigade team. The police reached the spot and started rescuing the people. 7 burnt bodies were recovered at the spot.

Information about the fire was received at 1.03 am late in the night

Delhi Fire Services senior official said that the information about the fire was received at 1.03 am late in the night near pillar number 12 of Gokulpuri village. He said that after this 13 fire tenders were dispatched to extinguish the fire. According to the officials, seven bodies were recovered from the spot. Around 60 slums have been damaged and 30 have been completely burnt.

Devesh Kumar Mahla, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) said that the information about the fire was received at around one o'clock in the night after which the police and fire department officials reached the spot. He said the fire was brought under control at around 4 am on Saturday.
