Rajasthan Election 2023: Before the announcement of candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections, the Congress party is witnessing unrest within its ranks.

The party, which currently holds power in the state, has not yet released its list of candidates. On Friday, a meeting of the State Election Committee was held in the Congress war room to discuss candidate selection.

Prior to this meeting, party workers staged a protest near the party war room, demanding that some incumbent legislators not be given tickets. Congress workers are particularly unhappy with MLA Zahida Khan.

Congress's First List of Candidates to be Released Soon

On Saturday afternoon, the Screening Committee meeting took place at the Congress headquarters in Delhi. Prior to this meeting, Congress workers also staged a protest at the AICC headquarters in Delhi.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot travelled to Delhi to attend this meeting. The meeting discussed the names of potential candidates.

Following this, a meeting of the Central Election Committee will be held. It is expected that the first list of candidates will be released after the Screening Committee meeting.

Protests Against these Legislators

Protesting Congress workers carried placards during their demonstration. Congress workers staged their protest against incumbent MLAs Danesh Abrar of Sawai Madhopur, Amin Kagzi of Kishanpole (Jaipur), Anil Sharma of Sardarshahar (Churu), and Kamran of Kaman.

Before the meeting, groups of Congress workers from the constituencies of Kaman, Sawai Madhopur, Kishanpole, and Sardarshahar gathered near the "war room" and raised slogans against the four incumbent MLAs, demanding that they not be given tickets.

What did Party Workers Say?

A party worker from Sawai Madhopur, Ali Mohammad, said, "If Congress gives a ticket to Danesh Abrar, they will lose. He neglected party workers for five years, and we had to wait for hours to meet him. Meeting him was a difficult task, so he should not be given a ticket."

Another worker from Kaman claimed there is strong discontent against Zahida Khan, and people want the party to field candidates who can win.

Congress has not yet released a list of candidates for the elections, which are scheduled for November 25. Voting will take place on December 3.
