Kota, India's coaching hub, appears to be grappling with the challenge of reducing student suicide incidents. On the one hand, District Collector Dr. Ravindra Goswami is making efforts to reduce suicides through the initiative 'Dinner with Collector', while on the other hand, the police administration is also continuously striving to prevent suicides.
However, despite these efforts, Kota is still witnessing incidents of suicide.
On Monday night, another case of a coaching student's suicide has come to light. This student had been preparing for the NEET exam in Kota for a year.
However, the exact cause of the suicide has not yet been determined.
Uruz Khan, a Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh student, had been residing in Kota for nearly a year. He had shifted to the flat just 20 days ago where he committed suicide.
The reason behind the student's decision to take such a drastic step is currently unknown.
The police team has sealed the room where the incident occurred. The family members of the student have been informed about the suicide, and a post-mortem will be conducted upon their arrival.
In Kota, six coaching students have succumbed to suicide so far in the year 2024.
Comparatively, in the previous year of 2023, 28 coaching students had taken their own lives.
The police informed that a student was preparing for the NEET exam. The student committed suicide by hanging himself last night.
When the guard found out in the morning, he informed the police, who then arrived at the scene.
The police removed the body from the noose and placed it in the mortuary of the MBS Hospital.
