Big cracks have appeared in 21 houses of a village in the Doda district. Not only this, some of these houses have collapsed.
To avoid any untoward incident, 19 families have been shifted to safer places.
According to Doda SDM Athar Amin Zargar, so far 117 people belonging to 19 families have been shifted to safer places.
The situation is being closely monitored. Steps will be taken keeping in mind the safety of the villagers.
Denying the situation like Joshimath, he said that the problem has come due to landslides.
Geologists from Chenab Valley Power Projects and National Highway Authority have also inspected the spot.
Landslides caused cracks in the walls of houses in Nai Basti village of the Thathri area, located on the Kishtwar-Batote National Highway, 35 km from Doda town.
The roofs and walls of many houses have started falling. Experts have been sent to the village to investigate the cause of the landslide.
Doda Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan said, "We are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of the people."
According to officials, 19 houses, 1 mosque and 1 madrassa have been evacuated so far.
There is an atmosphere of panic among the local people due to land subsidence. The local people are demanding proper rehabilitation of the affected families.
