Cracks have developed in a few houses in Aligarh's Kanwariganj area, triggering panic among locals in Uttarakhand's Joshimath amid fears of land subsidence.
“For the past few days, cracks have appeared in some of our homes, due to which we are forced to live in panic. We have also complained about this but the Municipal Corporation officials are not taking any concrete action and are only giving assurances. There is fear that the houses might collapse," said Shashi, a local.
According to locals, a pipeline laid under the government's smart city initiative is now leaking, causing cracks. It's been almost four days. We have informed the concerned departments, but no help has been provided so far. We are being forced to live in fear,” said another local Afsha Mashroor.
Taking cognizance of the cracks in the houses, the team of the civic body reached with bulldozers at night.
