On Thursday (July 13), an arrest was made in connection with the alleged rape of a woman near her apartment in Delhi's Prashant Vihar, which occurred on Friday, July 7.
The accused, identified as Ravi Solanki, had been evading capture since the incident and was apprehended by the police on Thursday. Shockingly, the accused had impersonated a police officer to intimidate the woman.
The distressing incident unfolded late in the evening on July 7 when the victim was seated in a car with her boyfriend. Seizing an opportunity, Ravi Solanki surreptitiously recorded and took photographs of the couple using his mobile phone, which were visible in the car's side mirror.
Following a while, the victim's boyfriend dropped her off outside her apartment. However, the accused remained outside on his motorcycle, persistently pursuing the woman as she entered the building.
When he found her alone on the staircase, Ravi Solanki claimed to be a police officer and proceeded to show her the recorded video of her boyfriend as a means to intimidate her.
Exploiting the threat of making the video viral, he allegedly subjected the woman to rape on the staircase.
Immediately after the incident, the woman promptly contacted her boyfriend and informed him about the harrowing ordeal. Together with her family, they accompanied her to the police station to register a case.
The police initiated a thorough investigation, utilizing CCTV footage to aid in the search for the accused.
In collaboration with the victim, they worked diligently to create a sketch of the perpetrator based on her description.
The relentless efforts of the police eventually led to the arrest of Ravi Solanki. A case has been registered against him, and he will face the legal consequences for his alleged heinous actions.
