Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major setback ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. AAP leader Balbir Singh Jakhar has switched parties and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Jakhar had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as an AAP candidate from the West Delhi parliamentary constituency.

Balbir Jakhar is a senior advocate in Delhi and has also served as the former chairman of the Coordination Committee of all District Bar Associations in Delhi.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: AAP Joins Hands with Congress

In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, AAP contested all seven seats in Delhi, challenging both BJP and Congress. However, AAP did not win any seats in both elections, while BJP swept all seven seats.

This time, AAP has allied with Congress under the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A Alliance. AAP will contest on 4 seats - New Delhi, South Delhi, East Delhi, and West Delhi, while Congress will contest on 3 seats - Chandni Chowk, North-East Delhi, and North-West Delhi.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Continued Trend of Party Switching

As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, all parties are gearing up for the electoral battle. Meanwhile, the trend of party switching continues, with leaders from various other parties joining the BJP consistently.

The leadership of the BJP-led NDA alliance is confident of securing a hat-trick victory with 400 seats this time.

On the other hand, the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A is striving to reunite after internal discord. The country will witness elections for a total of 543 Lok Sabha seats.
