2024 Lok Sabha Elections: In a few months, the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 are scheduled to take place in India. It is considered to be the world's largest democratic election.

It is anticipated that the Election Commission may announce the dates for the Lok Sabha elections in the month of February.

In this regard, the Election Commission of India has released information on Friday regarding the number of eligible voters for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in the country.

The Election Commission of India has provided information on Friday that approximately 970 million Indian citizens will be eligible to vote in this year's Lok Sabha polls.

According to the Commission, there has been a six per cent increase in the number of registered voters since the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

The Election Commission has stated that the largest electorate in the world, comprising about 968.8 million voters, is registered to vote in the upcoming general elections in India.

2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Number of New Voters

The Chief Election Commissioner of the country, Rajiv Kumar, addressed a press conference in Pune where he provided information regarding various activities including the participation of political parties in every phase along with the re-verification of voter lists.

He mentioned that over two crore young voters aged between 18 to 29 years have been added to the voter list.

Additionally, emphasis was placed on the accuracy and integrity of the voter list.

The commission also provided information that the gender ratio in the country increased from 940 in 2023 to 948 in 2024.
