Maoist Attack in Dantewada: Ten District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel and the driver of the car they were traveling in were slain in a Naxal attack on Wednesday i.e. Aprilk 26.
After receiving information about the presence of Naxalites in Dantewada's Aranpur region, security forces from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) went there.
Maoists allegedly put the IED on Aranpur Road which caused the explosion. As per reports, the incident took place on Wednesday when jawans from the District Reserve Guards (DRG) were returning following an operation against Maoists.
According to police sources, the Naxalites detonated an IED in the mini-goods van in which the security personnel were travelling.
The DRG soldiers were returning from an anti-Maoist operation when they were attacked by Maoists, killing ten DRG personnel and a civilian driver, according to IG Bastar P Sundarraj.
"The search is underway," stated P Sundarajan, the IG of Bastar.
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, conveyed his sympathies to the families of the deceased police personnel. "The demise of 10 DRG jawans and a driver in an IED blast during an anti-Naxal operation in the Aranpur police station vicinity of Dantewada is a regrettable incident.
The operation was conducted based on intelligence regarding the presence of Maoist cadres in the region."
Amit Shah took to Twitter to express his outrage at the heinous attack on Chhattisgarh police in Dantewada and to express his condolences to the bereaved family members of the murdered Jawans.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah called the chief minister shortly after the incident was reported and promised him the Centre's full cooperation in the fight against the Naxal militants.
