IPL: The Chinna Thala of Chennai Super Kings had retired from all forms of cricket last year in September.  Suresh Raina was the key batter for Team India when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the captain of the Indian team.

MR IPL was a vital member of the Chennai Super Kings side as well. Raina was like a younger brother to the CSK fans, and he was the leading run-scorer for the Yellow Army.

Suresh Raina is the first Indian to smash a century in T20 International cricket, and still, he is the only batter from Team India to score a hundred in the T20 World Cup.

Raina achieved this feat against South Africa in the 2010 T20 World Cup. Suresh retired from International cricket in 2020, following the announcement of retirement by MS Dhoni, who happens to be Raina's closest friend. Dhoni made his retirement announcement on August 15, 2020.

Overall, Suresh Raina was the best batter in the CSK team and was part of four title wins of the Yellow Army.

CSK had a poor 2020 and 2022 seasons. Suresh Raina wasn't part of the CSK team in both of them.

MR IPL has scored 5528 runs from just 205 games and 200 innings. He had an average of 32.52 and a strike rate of 136.76, with one unbeaten century and 39 half-centuries.

1. First Man on the Planet to Reach 5000 Runs in IPL Cricket

Suresh Raina was the first player in the history of the Indian Premier League to amass the five thousand runs barrier.

He was so consistent that in the first seven editions of this cash-rich league tournament, Raina had scored four hundred runs for the Yellow Army.

Suresh Raina has played 205 matches and 200 innings in IPL, and in that, Suresh has taken 109 caches to his name.

3. Most Half Centuries for One Franchise

Suresh Kumar Raina has played the IPL from its inception. Raina had played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) the most, and he also represented the Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017.

But Suresh Raina has the record for scoring the most half-centuries for a single franchise. He has scored 33 fifties for CSK in his IPL career.

4. 425 Boundaries for the Yellow Army

Suresh Raina was the backbone of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He had owned the number three batting position till IPL 2019. 

But he wasn't part of the CSK squad in 2020 and in 2021, so the number three spot went to Moeen Ali.

Raina batter lower down the order in the 2021 season. He has smashed 425 fours to his name for CSK franchise in his career.

5. 180 Sixes for Chennai Super Kings

The southpaw has smashed the second most sixes for the Yellow Army in the history of the Indian Premier League. The CSK skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has the record of smashing the most sixes for his franchise and Chinna Thala has joined second in the list.

Raina has smashed 180 sixes for the Yellow Army in this cash-rich tournament.
