Top 5 Batters of India with Most Runs in the History of ODI Asia Cup

ODI Asia Cup 2023: The ODI Asia Cup will be played this year in 2023. But still the venue, schedule and dates have not been announced yet. That is mainly because the BCCI has said that they will not send the men in blue side to Pakistan, who have the hosting rights of this Asian Tournament which would be played in the fifty-overs format from August to September 2023.

ODI Asia Cup 2023: India has won seven titles, which is the most in overall Asia Cup history till now and the men in the blue side are also the defending champion of the Asia Cup in the fifty overs format.

India under Rohit Sharma won the Asia Cup in 2018 which was a fifty-overs competition and that event was played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

But last year, the Blues didn’t had an ideal tournament. The Asia Cup 2022 event was played in the T20 International format and Sri Lanka won that event despite a crushing defeat to Afghanistan in the first game of last year’s edition.

Sri Lanka also won their matches against the tournament favourites teams like India and Pakistan to clinch their sixth Asia Cup title, which is the second most in the tournament’s history.

In 2023, the Asia Cup will be a fifty-overs tournament because the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will be played in India later this year.

India and Pakistan are placed in the same group of the ODI Asia Cup 2023. But the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) are still undecided about the hosting rights of this year’s event.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has demanded a change in the venue because they will not send the Indian Cricket team to Pakistan for this event.

Pakistan has the hosting rights of this Asian event in 2023 and because of security reasons, the BCCI is not ready to send the Indian cricket players for this fifty-overs tournament.

Before the Asian Cricket Council announces the venue, dates and fixtures of the upcoming ODI Asia Cup 2023, let us see the five batters of the men in the blue side who have amassed the most runs in the history of the Asia Cup which will be played in the one-day international cricket format.

This list is till 2018, which was also the last edition of the ODI Asia Cup.

The former Indian skipper looked good in the last edition of the Asia Cup which was played in the T20I format. His form will be crucial for India's chances in the ODI Asia Cup 2023 and ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Virat missed the last ODI Asia Cup edition in 2018, and he would look to make the most out of this in the ODI Asia Cup 2023 tournament.

Virat Kohli has played 16 matches and 14 innings from 2010 to 2016. The King has amassed 766 runs to his name with three centuries and two half centuries.

Virat’s knock of 183 runs against Pakistan in the ODI Asia Cup tournament was one of his best, and his fans want to see many knocks like that from Kohli in this edition as well.

Gabbar hasn’t been in the scheme of things after India lost the ODI series against New Zealand under Shikhar Dhawan in 2022.

One can say that the career of Dhawan might be over in some years because he hasn’t been in India’s Test squad or the T20 International team.

The likes of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have replaced Shikhar as the openers of the limited overs format.

Still one cannot forget Dhawan’s contribution as a top-order batter for India, especially in the ICC events.

Till now, Dhawan has played 13 matches and many innings in the ODI Asia Cup. Gabbar had scored 613 runs to his name with two centuries and three fifties. Dhawan had a strike rate of 93.58 and an average of 51.08.
