TATA IPL 2024: The Indian Premier League season 2024 will start in another 11 days. On the 22nd March 2024, the first game of the TATA IPL 2024 will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The opening encounter will be a mouth watering clash which will be played between Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Winning an World Cup of the One Day International format and the T20 International format is a matter of glory while the Indian Premier League has been a tournament as well where each team wants to win this event. But no captain has won an ODI World Cup and IPL tile in the same year as of now.
Today, in this segment, we will mention the name of that only skipper in the cricketing world who won the ICC mega event of the fifty overs format and also let our viewers know about the year in which this miracle happened –
MS Dhoni has been a genius man who had led the Men in Blue to three ICC titles during his captaincy stint and he is the only captain to do that in world cricket.
Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, we all know that India had won T20 World Cup in South Africa, ODI World Cup at home and the ICC Champions Trophy in England.
Mahi Bhai has also led the franchise team of Chennai Super Kings to five titles and in this year of TATA IPL 2024, the Yellow Army is the defending champions.
Now Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have the same number of IPL trophies with them and in this edition, it will be interesting to see which team wins their sixth trophy.
Chennai Super Kings were the finalists in the opening season of this cash-rich league tournament. But they failed to win it in 2008 as the Late Shane Warne captained and coached his Rajasthan Royals side to their maiden IPL trophy, which has been their only glory in this T20 event so far. The Double R’s had reached the finals in 2022.
But Gujarat Titans won it and GT also reached the finals of the tournament in 2023 as well. CSK won their first-ever Indian Premier League trophy in 2010 and in the next year, they became the first team to defend their crown in 2011.
That record was equaled by Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians in 2020 when the whole season was played in UAE due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2011 was a miraculous year for the Men in Blue as they won their second ODI World Cup trophy after a 1983 win at Lords and later Chennai Super Kings also won their second back-to-back title in the cash-rich league tournament.
MS Dhoni is the only captain who has achieved this feat in the current cricketing world as of now. No skipper has won a T20 World Cup and an IPL tile in the same year as captain till now. Will that record be broken in T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean?
