IND Vs BAN 2022: After losing their second back-to-back one-day international series against Bangladesh, Team India did well to start the Test series on a winning note.

The first Test was played at Chattogram from 14th December 2022 to 18th December 2022. The men in blue side batted first and posted 404 in their 1st innings.

India reached that score because of three half-centuries scored by Cheteshwar Pujara, Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Bangladesh was bundled out for just 150 because of the chinaman bowler, Kuldeep Yadav's five-wicket haul. India batted again and build the advantage of 254 runs as a lead.

Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara scored their tons in the second innings. Gill got his first Test hundred and Puajara slammed a century after three long years.

India had a dominant performance in the second innings. They declared at 258 runs and set a target of 513 runs to win. The Tigers got off to a good start.

The test debutant Zakir Hasan scored his maiden Test century and he was well supported by Najmul Hossain Shanto.

The Bangladeshi openers provided a terrific start of 124 runs. But the middle order who also failed in the ODI series didn’t use this opportunity yet again.

Apart from Shakib Al Hasan's attacking 84 runs, no other batter put up a fight. Bangladesh gave an impressive performance.

Still, they managed just 324 runs in their second innings. India won the 1st Test match by 188 runs.

The second and final test match of the two-match Test series will be played from  Thursday, 22nd December 2022 to Monday, 26th December 2022 at Dhaka.

1. Kuldeep Yadav

The Chinaman bowler had a Test match to remember. He will be in the scheme of things after the performance which he gave in the opening Test match.

Kuldeep also batted well in the 1st innings. He scored valuable 40 runs that allowed India to go past the four-hundred-run mark.

Bangladesh‘s first innings lasted for just 55.5 overs because of Kuldeep Yadav's five-wicket haul. The Indian pace bowlers made some early inroads and after that, it was only the Kuldeep show.

In the second innings also he did well, especially when the pitch was a bit easy to bat. Kuldeep picked up three wickets and took eight wickets in the first Test match. Yadav was also awarded the player of the match.

2. Shubman Gill

The opening batter of the Indian Cricket Team has done well in the red ball format in the past. But he wasn't getting those hundreds yet.

In the first innings, he had got off to a decent start and scored 20 runs. The long wait of a test hundred was finally over in the second innings.

Bangladesh was two bowlers short in the second innings. To make up the overs, they used a lot of part-timers like Litton Das.

Gill made good use of that opportunity and smash his maiden ton in Test match cricket. Shubman attacked the part-time bowlers and scored a wonderful 110 runs off 152 balls with ten fours and three sixes.

This innings will be a special one for Gill because the maiden hundred is always closest to the heart even if a player had done well against tougher opposition and conditions.

3. Cheteshwar Pujara

The Test specialist of India, Cheteshwar Pujara had a good Test match. He was the top scorer for the team in the first innings as well.

Pujara and Shreyas Iyer shared a much-needed partnership for the Blues when they needed it most. But Pujara missed a well-deserved ton in the first innings.

In the second innings, when India wanted to declare, Pujara played an unusual kind of knock. He stepped out of the crease and attacked the spinners.

He played many shots which we have not seen from a Test Specialist player like Pujara. He scored the fastest ton of his Test career. Cheteshwar slammed a century in just 130 balls. He was unbeaten on 102 runs.

4. Zakir Hasan

The Test debutant from the Bangladeshi team had a memorable Test match, especially the way he batted in the second innings. He would certainly like to forget what happened in the first innings.

But his maiden 100 in the red ball format came against a strong side like India, which should build his confidence ahead of his Test match career.

Zakir’s positive intent and amazing stroke play paid off and that allowed him to reach his first three-figure mark in the red ball format.

His knock of hundred runs in the second innings also showed many batters from the Bangladeshi team how to bat.

Hasan played beautifully in the 2nd innings and that also makes him a player to watch out for in the last Test match.

5. Shakib Al Hasan

The premiere all-rounder of the Bangladeshi team, Shakib Al Hasan played an attacking knock of 84 runs. He went after the spinners and tried his best to put pressure back on the Indian bowlers.

The skipper of the Bangladeshi had failed to do well in the first innings. Hasan scored just three runs. Bangladesh hasn't won a Test match against India till now.

To bag their first win, Shakib should promote himself up the order and play an innings like Zakir in the second Test.
