ICC World Test Championship: Australia has won the 3rd and the final red ball match against Pakistan at Sydney Cricket Ground today. The Men in Green have failed to win even a single game in this red ball series which the Aussies won by a margin of 3-0. Before Pakistan arrived in Australia they were number one in the rankings.
But after this disastrous tour of Australia in 2023 and 2024, Pakistan is ranked sixth in the rankings of ICC World Test Championship points table.
Pakistan still has won just four red ball matches in the Aussie nation and this loss is their 17th one in the Test format.
India was ranked second in the ICC World Test Championship rankings before they went to South Africa. But the Men in Blue had lost the first red ball match of that two-match series and they slipped to 6th position. However, the Blues fought back brilliantly.
Their pace bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj fashioned a dominating win in the second Test match at Newlands in Cape Town, the venue where Team India didn’t win a single Test match.
But now they have recorded one win at that venue. That entire red ball match was ended in just one and a half days.
Rohit and his men also won the Test series in West Indies by a margin of 1-0. Now they will play England at home in a five-match red ball series.
India has played four Test matches, they won 2, lost one and 1 match was drawn in the new cycle of ICC World Test Championship 2023 to 2025.
India has gained 26 points and their points percentage is 54.16. South Africa is on the second spot with one win and one loss in the recent series against India. While New Zealand is on the 3rd rank with one match and one win.
The Aussies are ranked fourth after they crushed the Pakistani side in all three test matches. Australia has the higher points of 54, which is more than the top three sides in the ICC World Test Championship rankings. But their points percentage of 50 is the same as South Africa, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.
Pakistan is ranked 6th and Bangladesh is on the 5th spot in the rankings. After losing the red ball series against Australia, the Men in Green have 22 points to their name and their point percentage is 45.83. While the Bangla Tigers have played 2 matches till now.
