Now the home side is in an even stronger position of winning this match because the batters of Bangladesh are in no mood of giving it up and they are piling on more runs to put Afghanistan completely on the back foot.
Afghanistan had won their first Test match against Bangladesh when these two Test nations met four years back. In 2019, the Afghans recorded a win of 224 runs.
However, things have changed in this current Test match as the visitors are missing their star all-rounder, Rashid Khan. Afghanistan is firmly on the back foot and only a miracle can save them from a defeat in this only Test match.
Bangladesh is in a strong position of winning this only red ball game. That is because of their good batting performance in both innings.
Najmul Hossain Shanto has scored centuries in both the innings of this red ball match and that has propelled the Tigers to dominate this Test match.
Shanto amassed 146 runs in the first innings and he scored 124 runs in the second innings.
Najmul Hossain Shanto is just the second batter from the Bangladeshi Cricket Team to achieve this feat in the traditional format. Mominul Haque was the first ever Bangladeshi player to get to this milestone in red ball matches.
Mominul achieved this feat in 2018 against Sri Lanka. He scored 176 runs in the first innings and 105 runs in the second innings of that Test Match.
