Australia Vs India WTC Final 2023: India and Australia will take on each in the red ball format for the one final time in 2023.
These two teams will meet in the upcoming match of the World Test Championship final which will be played in June. India reached the WTC Final in 2023 after the men in blue side won the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series at home by a margin of 2-1.
While the Aussies didn’t lose any red ball series until they faced Rohit and Co in India. Under Pat Cummins Australia had ruled the Test matches in their home conditions.
After the ongoing TATA IPL 2023 season, India and Australia will head to England for this ICC mega event in the red ball format.
India and Australia will play the fifth Test match this year which is also the most red ball matches played between these two countries in a span of just six months.

Rohit Sharma(c), KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat(wk), R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur.
The big news is that Ajinkya Rahane has been recalled for the WTC Final in 2023. Rahane was dropped in 2022 after the Test series loss to South Africa.
Rahane was the vice-captain when Virat Kohli was the leader of the Test team. Under Rahane’s captaincy stint, India also registered a memorable win in Australia on their tour of 2020 and that series win came after a heavy loss in the Adelaide Test match.
India was bundled out for just 36 runs in their second innings of that Pink Ball Test match.
Ajinkya also played in the domestic season for his state team of Mumbai and he has looked in good form in the current edition of the TATA Indian Premiere League 2023, where he is playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The Yellow Army have won 10 points on the board with five wins under their belt. Rahane will be back in the middle order and replace Shreyas Iyer in the World Test Championship Final.
Pat Cummins(c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith(vc), Mitchell Starc, David Warner.
The above-mentioned Australian squad is also for the Ashes Test series in 2023. The Aussies have included Mitchell Marsh in their team for both encounters.
Mitchell hasn’t played any Test matches since the last Ashes Test series which was played in England in 2019 and that red ball series was drawn to 2 all.
With that, Josh Inglish and Marcus Harris have also been named in the 17-member Test squad of The Aussies. However, Cameron Bancroft and Michael Neser didn’t find any place in the Test squad for both series.
Bancroft was the highest run-getter and Nesser was the highest wicket-taker in the domestic matches played in the Aussie nation.
While Tom Murphy has retained his place in the side after he had a good Test series against India and Warner too has been named in the side despite his rough patch in the red ball format.
Apart from a few changes, the Test squad of India and Australia looked similar when they played the BGT Test Series 2023 a few months ago.
The first Ashes Test starts from June 20th, 2023 in Edgbaston and Australia will leave early for the UK for those two series.
